Look closer . . . .

I loved this piece of art.I was looking for clockwork and found it quite by accident (at wallpup.com). Another wonderful little piece of serendipity that keeps life interesting. when things you’re not expecting happen, just to surprise and delight you. and things that you fear simply melt away without trace.

A very thoughtful friend of mine sent me this poem. helping me to expect the unexpected, to see significance in the smallest coincidences. and to stay open to the magical

“Things to think by”

Think in ways you’ve never thought before

If the phone rings, think of it as carrying a message,

Larger than anything you’ve ever heard,

Vaster than a hundred lines of Yeats.

Think that someone may bring a bear to your door,

Maybe wounded or deranged; or think that a moose

Has risen out of the lake, and he’s carrying on his antlers

A child of your own whom you’ve never seen.

When someone knocks on the door, think that he’s about

To give you something large: tell you you’re forgiven,

Or that it’s not necessary to work all the time, or that it’s

Been decided that if you lie down no one will die.

(Robert Bly)

Look out for the little surprises. Treasure them. Enjoy them. Expect something different, even in the smallest moments. and you’ll be surprised at what happens. I guarantee it.
